Q&A: Danson Tang & Hana-Kimi
Just a quick answer to questions I’ve received:
Q: Who is Danson Tang’s girlfriend?
A: No idea. She was once mentioned to have accompanied him during an autograph signing, along with his mother. I don’t think she’s a celebrity, so maybe that’s why her name escapes the media. This is all I know as of now, but if I’m wrong, please tell me so I can retract what I’ve said and make it right.
Q: Where’d you get your information on (Taiwanese) Hana-Kimi 2?
A: I got it from CRI Online, a pretty reliable source for Taiwanese entertainment news. It’s an old article (circa 2007) so it may not be that reliable today. I know there have been rumours circulating that there will be a second series and that S.H.E.’s Selina will portray Ella’s sister, but it’s just mainly a rumour with no official confirmation.
Here’s what CRI has to say (for the complete article, click here):
Roughly translated, there were rumours of having a sequel filmed but Huan Wang Bo, the producer, didn’t want to make a sequel as most sequels suck (my own words, not his) and don’t really live up to the expectation and hype it gathers. They wanted to leave that sense of ambiguity and decided not to make another, even if it leaves the fans disappointed.
As for the copyrights not being obtained, I’ve only heard of that from several sources but nothing official either. If I happen upon an article, I’ll have it posted here as well.
Someone posted on a comment a petition being held calling for a sequel. If you want to sign your name on it, shimmy over to this site: http://www.petitiononline.com/tdramhk2/
Hana Kimi Sequel Revealed
I’ve blogged about this previously, but I’m not sure if I was fully understood. Sigh. The astronomical differences with English English and battered second-hand American English is to blame. Lol.
In hopes of clearing what I said: Taiwan at first wanted to make a sequel due to the popular demand of the audience and because leaving the ending at that was just painfully wretched (in my own biased opinion). But they are not making a sequel. This is due to permission of copyrights they have not obtained from Japan because Japan itself is making a sequel to their own version of Hana-Kimi.
That is the update of the future of Hana-Kimi as far as I know. There won’t be a sequel for Wu Zun, Jiro Wang and Ella Chen. Sorry.
And in a more depressing note, Shirota Yu hasn’t been casted for Japan’s Hana-Kimi sequel. :((
Hana-Kimi 2???
It seems (Taiwan) Hana-Kimi’s starting to make waves with hushed rumours of a second instalment. Unfortunately, such is not the case as Japan hasn’t given them copyrights to make a second season. Most likely because Hana-Kimi Japan will come up with their own.
Still, live and reminisce.
